Ingredients

  • 3 cups of dried hibiscus flowers
  • 2 ripe pomegranates
  • 1 cup of sugar or any sweetener of choice
  • 6 cups of water
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • A handful of ice cubes

Instructions

  • To extract the full-bodied richness of our hero ingredient, the hibiscus, bring 6 cups of water to a boil in a large pot.
  • Once it’s boiling, introduce your dried hibiscus flowers to the mix, turn off the heat, and cover the pot, allowing the flowers to steep for about 20 minutes.
  • While our hibiscus concoction is infusing with floral goodness, let’s shift focus to our pomegranates. We need to juice them. Remember, pomegranates could be a bit tricky, but it’s the challenge that makes the sweet result even rewarding.
  • After 20 minutes of steeping, strain the hibiscus tea into a pitcher and discard the flowers.
  • Stir in the sugar until it’s well dissolved, cool the tea to room temperature, and then add the freshly squeezed pomegranate juice.
  • Allow this zesty blend to chill in the refrigerator for about an hour.
  • Once our beverage is perfectly cool, pour it over ice cubes, garnish with a mint leaf—and voila! Your Iced Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate is ready to dazzle.

Notes

Feel free to sweeten your tea with honey or any natural sweetener if you’re avoiding processed sugars. Want to take the tanginess up a notch? Try adding a splash of lemon or lime juice.
